The Route: A Story in Three Acts
The first section of the tour follows the Adriatic coast — flat, scenic and fast, with the sea glittering to the right and the hills rising immediately to the left. This is the warm-up, the chance to find your rhythm and your group before the landscape gets more serious.
The second section cuts inland through the castle country: Gradara (the fortress that inspired Dante's tragedy of Paolo and Francesca), Mondaino, Saludecio — each a world of its own, each offering a different window into the medieval history of this border zone between the Papal States and the Duchy of Urbino. The roads here are quieter, the climbs steadier, and the atmosphere noticeably different from the coastal strip.
The third section is the approach to San Marino: a sustained climb through woodland that breaks suddenly onto the dramatic ridge of Monte Titano, with the Three Towers rising above and a view that extends on a clear day to the Apennines, the Po Plain and the sea. Arriving here by bicycle, under your own power, feels like genuine achievement.

The Love Italy tour runs over multiple days with daily stages of 50-75 km and moderate to challenging elevation gain. It is available in guided format — with a local cycling guide leading the group — and in self-guided format with GPS tracks, maps and pre-booked accommodation. Luggage is transferred between hotels each day.
The tour operates from April to October. May, June and September are the most popular months for the combination of weather and landscape quality.
